Frequently asked questions

How do I crop an image?

Add an image, then drag on the preview to draw a new crop area or adjust the existing one with the handles. Pick an aspect ratio if you need one, press Crop image, and download the result. The original file always stays untouched on your device.

Does cropping reduce image quality?

No pixels are resampled — everything outside the crop area is simply removed and the rest is kept as-is. Quality only changes if you export to JPEG or WebP, where the quality slider controls how aggressively the file is compressed. PNG output is lossless.

Can I crop to an exact aspect ratio or size?

Yes. Use the aspect-ratio presets (1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16) for a perfectly constrained selection, and type exact values into the X, Y, W and H fields when you need pixel-perfect results.

Can I crop a JPG and keep the rest of the photo sharp?

Yes — the crop itself never resamples pixels; it simply removes everything outside the selected area. The saved file only changes how it is compressed: PNG output is lossless, while JPG and WebP re-encode at the quality you pick, so the remaining photo keeps its look.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The preview, the cropping and the re-encoding all happen locally in your browser using Web Workers. Your files never leave your device, even while you are dragging the crop area around.

Can I crop several images at once?

You can queue multiple images and crop them one by one in the editor — cropping is an eye-driven task, so each image gets its own preview and controls. Your cropped results collect in a list, and the originals stay in the queue so you can re-crop any time.

How do I crop a JPG photo?

Add the JPG, drag on the preview to draw the crop area (or fine-tune it with the handles and the X/Y/W/H fields), choose Export, and download. The crop is pixel-exact: the area you drew is exactly what gets saved.

Does cropping a JPG lower its quality?

The crop itself cannot degrade anything — it removes pixels outside the frame and keeps the rest. What does matter is the save: JPG output is re-encoded, so pick a quality around 85–95 to keep the crop visually identical to the original photo.
