  2. Step 2

    JPG is already set

JPG is preset as the output. The quality slider sits at a balanced default for JPG; raise it for more detail, lower it for smaller files.

  3. Step 3

    Convert and download

Each finished row shows its new JPG size next to the original. Download the files one by one — no waiting rooms, no watermarks.

Should you convert GIF to JPG?

For photographic-looking content trapped in a GIF — a meme you want to send, a frame from an animation — JPG produces a far smaller file that uploads and prints without palette banding worsening. Transparency is flattened onto white and, again, animations contribute their first frame.

In short: Choose GIF → JPG for the smallest widely-accepted still export; it is not for animated content.

How GIF and JPG differ
Property GIF (source) JPG (output)
Compression Lossy by design — max 256 colors per frame Lossy — quality was fixed when the file was saved
Transparency Yes — 1-bit (fully transparent or fully opaque) No — transparent areas are already flattened
Best for Simple graphics, memes and short animations Photos and finished images that open everywhere
Worth knowing GIFs are palette images: smooth gradients already have 256-color banding baked in, and converting an animation takes its first frame. The detail JPG threw away at save time cannot be brought back — converting only decides what happens to what is left.

GIF to JPG — frequently asked questions

How do I convert GIF to JPG?

Drop your GIF files into the converter above (several at a time is fine), confirm the output is set to JPG, then hit convert and download the results. Everything happens locally in your browser while the files stay on your device.

Does converting GIF to JPG lose quality?

One quality-controlled lossy pass is added at the quality you choose — the default is set to a level where the difference is normally invisible. Transparency in the GIF file is flattened onto a white background, because JPEG has no alpha channel.

Will the JPG file be smaller than my GIF file?

Usually yes for photographs and screenshots alike — JPEG's quality-controlled compression turns uncompressed or palette content into something much smaller.

What happens to transparency and EXIF metadata?

The GIF's transparency is flattened onto a white background — JPEG has no alpha channel, so painted areas become plain white instead of see-through. Note: GIF animations are converted to their first frame — this converter produces still images. EXIF metadata such as camera model, timestamps and GPS coordinates is not carried over: the output is written as a brand-new file containing pixels only. That is a privacy bonus, not a bug.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The converter decodes and re-encodes your images locally in your browser using Web Workers. Your files never leave your device, which is why the tool keeps working even on slow or offline connections.
